Another area that will need consideration will be the gas line. Yes, it seems that the push type electric Holley pump provides more volume than the mechanical stock suction type, so it will deliver more volume to the carburetion. In most cases the factory line will be fine. When our race car started showing signs of leaning out in the top end and a jet change did not correct the problem, we installed the larger VW factory Type III fuel injection car steel gas line and still used the stock VW pump. Next the Holley "Blue" pump was added. This provided enough fuel until we upped the power another 47 HP and then, again, the line had to be changed. This time we went directly to AN-8 aircraft hose. Now, be clear I do not use the rubber or neoprene type stainless steel hose or screw together ends. Teflon tubing is more slippery and provides even better flow than the same size steel line. For safety, and as required by all race tracks, this line should be run outside the car and cannot pass inside the car unless it is inside the tunnel. We can supply custom hoses to fill your needs, but you must allow about 2 working days to make once YOU determine the size, length and end fittings for your applications. See GB 252-CUSTOM. |
